Episode 6:
Dark Forces
If you’re anything like us, then you probably thought of Dark Forces was simply a Star Wars-themed Doom clone. Well guess what. You’d be wrong! Just like us!
While DF was heavily inspired by Doom, it’s a much more complex game, both in strategy and in the actual game engine itself. And while I’ll wait to bore you with those details in the actual podcast, I will tell you now that we had a blast playing Dark Forces.
Most of these games are still pretty fun, but this one holds up almost completely, almost 25 years later. Just a purely awesome FPS and is a very authentic and awe-inspiring dive into the SW universe. Plus there are a few (spoiler-free) aspects of the game that are directly linked to the plot and characters of the upcoming Rogue One. Get psyched, man.
Plus this is another door we’re opening in to a series of sequels, as this is the first in the Dark Forces (Jedi Knight) series of games. Looking forward to playing those eventually too!
